The mural is inspired by the painting Las Lanzas, aka La rendición de Breda (the surrender of Breda), by Diego Velázquez. The painting from 1634 illustrates the victory of Spain in which Governor Justinus hands over the key of the city to Spinola.
Five Spanish and five Dutch street artists come together in a unique international project to make a 110 meters long mural on the wall of the old CSM factory. The artists started each at one side of the wall and worked to each other in a week time. At the center of the mural you will find the key of the city, just as in the painting by Veláquez. It’s like a friendly battle with paint.
