The diversity in colours and whimsical shapes of this mural refer to the turbulent past of the place where Wouters made the work. A chapel was built in the fifteenth century, it was used as a cemetery
in the sixteenth century, a vegetable garden in the nineteenth century and as barracks in the twentieth century.
Job Wouters (Letman) is an Amsterdam based typedesigner. As “letter loony” he doesn’t shun traditional techniques like calligraphy. Armed with his ‘spray can-machine’ he makes unique letter art.
