The mural is dedicated to the Pet Information Point, an initiative of the Municipality of Breda that promotes awareness of animal welfare and the role of animals in the city. Breda is affiliated with DierVizier, through which the municipality works toward a city where people and animals can live together in a healthy and harmonious way.

The Pet Information Point is not a physical location, but a digital platform where residents can find information about responsible pet ownership. Nearly four million households in the Netherlands have one or more pets. As issues concerning animal welfare and the shared living environment of people and animals become increasingly important, the municipality is taking an active role in addressing them. Through this commitment, the Municipality of Breda supports biodiversity, healthy ecosystems, and animal welfare as essential components of a livable city.

Evi Hogervorst is an illustrator with a graphic edge. Clean blocks of color combined with loose linework are what characterize her style. Her figurative imagery leans toward the abstract while remaining playful and cheerful at the same time.

Her inspiration often comes from her own memories or sharp observations. Social themes regularly make an appearance in her work. As a result, Evi’s images feel both recognisable and strange. They invite the viewer to pause for a moment, take a second look and observe their surroundings more closely. The carefully considered color combinations ensure that the work comes across in a positive and engaging way.
