Jan van der Ploeg (1959, Amsterdam) studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam and Croydon College of Art in London and completed a residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. In 1990, he was awarded the Royal Prize for Modern Painting. His work is exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. Jan van der Ploeg has built up an impressive oeuvre of hundreds of murals. His organised and graphic imagery is highly recognisable. The use of patterns created by the repetition of forms plays an important role in his work.
