‘Point of view’
Your own perspective colours the world. But how aware are you of your point of view? Do you have enough overview to sketch a complete picture? In this exhibition I investigate the tension in which different perspectives make room for each other.
My work tells something about the perspective from which we look at this world. That perspective determines which position we take. And how steadfast we are in that. But is that perspective really that reliable? It depends on subjective experiences, feelings, interpretations and interactions. Are you sure you are not missing anything? Most of it passes us by unconsciously. From your own point of view it is sometimes difficult to see that of the other – even if that person is standing right next to you.
My patterns illuminate multiple sides. In order to be able to see everything as a spectator, you may have to switch. But once you get it, it will permanently broaden your view. Even in a time of contrasting opinions and congealing perspectives, points of view can change… if you dare to look from a different point of view. These snapshots full of chaos and interaction hopefully throw your visual system off track for a moment, so that you may experience reality slightly differently than it actually is.
