The Pettenclub 2.0 is a contemporary tribute to the original Pettenclub, a football team that played in the early 20th century on the Siegmund field near Ceresstraat. In this new project, stories from the neighborhood were collected by students of Kbs St. Joseph, local residents, and neighborhood ministers, and translated into colorful cap designs. Inspired by the school’s “Kanjertraining” program—where caps symbolize different types of social behavior—nine students painted their own caps, reflecting local themes such as traditional crafts, urban nature, and football. These designs were then incorporated into a mural near the football field by artist Bas Steens.
The Pettenclub 2.0 includes Elza Kramer, Ibrahim Makic, Amelie Hoeve, Yoeki Baay, Lynn van Loon, Fien Paap, Ties Baardemans, Stan van Berlo, and Mila Jansen. The project came to life thanks to the efforts of neighborhood ministers Stan, Ties, Iggy, and Koen. Together with Lidia van Hooijdonk from Chatime, they came up with the idea to brighten up the wall next to the football field.
This project was made possible with the support of Kbs St. Joseph and Gemeente Breda.
