G. Couvreur opened a kiosk in 1953. It was a famous place where you could buy cigars, newspapers, comic books and various magazines. Years later, the kiosk was transformed into ‘Breda’s Smulhuisje’ where people could enjoy Belgian fries, sandwiches and other meals.

Damien Poulain is a graphic designer and illustrator with a specific focus on art, fashion and music. He also publishes photography books under the name oodee. After painting shutters in Tokyo, Paris and London Blind Walls Gallery invited Damien to visit Breda and work his magic. Despite it being the hottest day of the year Damien delivered beautiful ‘happy shutters’.
