This mural says ‘You Are Welcome’, a clear statement in line with the core values of cultural centre Nieuwe Veste: everyone is welcome. The word ‘welcome’ earns the most important place in the design. Each letter has a different look, colour and feel. As a whole, this stands for diversity and gives each letter a unique character, just like the visitors of Nieuwe Veste.

Besides the statement, the letters also show what happens behind the doors of Nieuwe Veste. The second ‘E’ is depicted on a paper, this stands for literature and creativity. The last ‘E’ is in the shape of a musical note, referring to the wide range of music on offer.

You will find this colourful and surprising Blind Wall next to the entrance of Nieuwe Veste, a place to dream and look to the future.
