Where Two Worlds Meet

Gemini Court is a unique art and sports project in which two basketball courts were designed and created together with young people โ€“ both inside and outside of detention. One court is located in the Hoge Vucht neighborhood of Breda, the other within the walls of the juvenile detention center Den Hey-Acker. These mirrored courts symbolize connection, collaboration, and new perspectives.

Guided by artists and creative professionals, the participating youth helped shape the design of both courts. The result is more than just a place to play sports โ€“ itโ€™s a visually striking public artwork that demonstrates how talent, creativity, and connection come to life when worlds come together.

Partnership & Involvement

Gemini Court was developed through a collaboration between:

  • Blind Walls Gallery
  • Sagitta Creatives
  • Young Perspectives
  • Grote Broer Grote Zus
  • RJJI Den Hey-Acker

The project was made possible with the support of the Municipality of Breda through the Youth Culture Subsidy program.

More Than Sports and Art

Gemini Court shows how young people โ€“ even within detention โ€“ can make their voices heard through art and sport. It highlights that art can be a profession and a future: a way to build a meaningful life.

๐ŸŽฌ The entire process, from concept to completion, has been captured in a documentary by Raekwunder Films, which will premiere later this year.
