Opening Exhibition ‘Tiger Prints on the Cobblestones’

On October 24, the exhibition ‘Tiger Prints on the Cobblestones’ will open — a collaboration between three artists from Indonesia and the Netherlands. Danny Rumbl, Sicovecas, and Fivust place the tiger, as a powerful symbol, at the heart of this show. The exhibition will be on view until November 17 at the Blind Walls Gallery Gallery and is free to visit.

In 2024, Rotterdam-based graffiti artist Danny Rumbl traveled through Indonesia in search of his roots. While painting in the streets, he met many local street artists. Inspired by the completely different context but a shared creative drive, he and Javanese artist Sicovecas founded the platform ‘Doewa Matjan’ — meaning ‘Two Tigers’. With this platform, they aim to stimulate exchange between Indonesian and Dutch artists with Indo roots.

Limited Edition

The three artists are currently touring the Netherlands, giving pop-up presentations in various cities. This exhibition is the only long-running show and includes prints, self-published books, toys, paper-based collaborations, and a mural. For this special occasion, Fivust has created a limited edition designer toy of his well-known character ‘Wangoon’.

About Danny Rumbl

Danny Rumbl, from Rotterdam, has been active as an illustrator and muralist for over twenty years. He combines vintage cartoons, nature, and food in his work. He explored his Indonesian heritage through his grandmother’s recipes — not just by cooking them, but by painting them too. He has also published an artistic cookbook. In “Buku Danny Gemuruh”, he shares his love for art and Indonesian cuisine.

About Sicovecas

Sicovecas is an artist from Indonesia whose work often explores forms of interaction — such as conversations, trust, and communities. He likes to explore what it means to belong somewhere and how to remain thoughtful in a changing world. For him, painting goes beyond simply creating something beautiful. His work is raw, abstract, and organic. Or, in his own words: “the style that comes closest to being human.”

About Fivust

Fivust has worked in the art world for many years, both in Indonesia and internationally. His work includes murals, sculptures, designer toys, paintings, installations, and tattoos. By exploring color tones and atmospheres, he has developed a unique style with a surprising twist. He enjoys giving the normal, dull, and everyday a playful, entertaining edge — with a bit of spice.
